Northwest Transportation Conference, Corvallis, OR - February 2008
Participating Agencies: Puget Sound Regional Council, Purdue University, Oregon DOT
The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) and other agencies in the Portland Metropolitan Region would like to implement arterial traffic time information into their regional Advanced Traffic Information System strategy as a way to mitigate congestion. ODOT is also interested in implementing elements of Active Traffic Management as part of their overall strategy to mitigate congestion and better operate the transportation system. Dr. Bullock is the foremost expert on arterial travel time and his presentation on the results of his work helped local agencies better understand the topic. Ms. Mayhew was a member of the International Scan on Active Traffic Management and presented on the findings of that scan and its possible implementation in Oregon.

Congestion Management Peer Exchange - May 2007
Participating Agencies: Ada County Highway Department, Garden City, ID; Indiana DOT; Colorado Springs DOT
The City of Colorado Springs developed a three-day series of sessions to identify best practices to improve traffic flow on arterial streets. Much of the "Best Practices and Policies" discussion focused on deploying ITS initiatives that address incident management, work zones, adaptive signal timings, arterial ITS, weather conditions, and planned and unplanned events. There were two information sessions scheduled. The first discussed congested arterial corridor issues. Peers discussed signal operation philosophies to improve traffic flow along signalized corridors amid the City’s heavy traffic growth. The second focused on ITS initiatives. Peers discussed innovative ITS and other congestion related solutions with respect to the most successful coordination enhancement programs, advice on upgrading equipment, updates on new technology, and enhanced signal timing philosophies.

Gary-Chicago-Milwaukee Traffic Incident Management Enhancement Work Group, Milwaukee, WI - June 2006
Participating Agencies: Florida Highway Patrol
A Florida Highway Patrol representative provided a user perspective on photogrammetry equipment to the members of the Gary-Chicago-Milwaukee Traffic Incident Management Enhancement (GCM TIME) Work Group. More specifically, he presented the benefits, weaknesses, and operational issues of photogrammetry equipment. His presentation helped the GCM TIME Work Group members gain a better understanding of the technology and determine whether their agencies should use it to speed up crash investigations and clear crash sites faster.
